Last week, I went to the Preston Evans Opportunities Auction in Newnan, Georgia.  The great thing about auctions is that you never know what you will find.  There were a lot of interesting things to look at, even if you do not collect that type of stuff.  Meeting new people, and discussing the items, is part of the whole experience.

For me, it was really good.  There were a lot of items that I personally collect or have an interest in.  Great jukeboxes!  A Wurlitzer Peacock jukebox in great condition sold for $22,000.00, and a Wurlitzer 1015 in good condition sold for $8,000.00.  There were at least 100 jukeboxes, truly a collectors’ candy store.

There was a good selection of trade stimulators, arcade machines and gumball machines of all sizes.  An arcade game called Whiz Ball sold for $250.00.  Slot machines sold at relatively low prices, ranging anywhere from $800.00 to $1200.00.

There were a few vending machines, and a nice selection of early magic show posters.  The best machine of all, an original cast iron Happy Jap went for $4,700.00.  Truly a great find.

Preston Evans is a real peach.  He is a great auctioneer and really knowledgeable about his merchandise.  If you haven’t been to a Preston Evans Opportunities Auction, you should definitely not miss the next one.  You will have a great time!
